Senior Native American Program Specialist
The mission of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is to foster strong communities by supporting access to quality, affordable housing, expanding the housing supply, and unlocking homeownership opportunities for the American people. The Department is committed to furthering the promise of self-sufficiency in every American while promoting economic development to revitalize rural, tribal, and urban communities across the country. This position is located in the Office of Public and Indian Housing (PIH). PIH's mission is to provide low-income families affordable housing opportunities as they transition to self-sufficiency and homeownership. PIH oversees the administration of HUD's Public Housing, Housing Choice Voucher, Section 8 Rental Assistance, and Native American Programs through a staff of Headquarters and Field employees.
As a Senior Native American Program Specialist, you will:
- Advise the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Native American Programs, the Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary and Director HQ's Operations.
- Function as a Senior Specialist who is able to speak and act as an expert about a full range of HUD programs and how those services specifically relate to Native Americans, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians.
- Make decisions and recommendations with minimal consultation with the Deputy Assistant Secretary, Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary and Director Headquarters Operations. Significant coordination is required with Headquarters and Area Office personnel, as well as other units within HUD: Office of Administration, Training Office, and Budget Office, PIH Assistant Secretary and HUD's Secretary.
- Work to integrate and tailor HUD programs to Indian community needs at the National level while coordinating services at the local levels including performing studies, developing reports, spreadsheets, analysis on ONAP programs and drafting language for Salary and Expense staffing needs.
- Coordinate various sensitive and pre-decisional managerial activities.
