About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience required License: Valid State License required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, Chemotherapy Certification (ONS/ONCC) required Must-Have: Oncology experience required Chemotherapy administration Accessing and managing ports Administration of blood and blood products Central line blood draw Central line and implanted line care PICC line care Starting and maintaining IVs Foley catheter insertion and management Telemetry interpretation and monitoring Description: Responsibilities include care for patients undergoing bone marrow transplants and chemotherapy. Oncology and chemotherapy experience is required. Candidates must pass an EKG exam. Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias are essential. Floating within the oncology department is required based on patient care needs. The nurse patient ratio is 4:1 for all shifts. The average daily census is approximately 30 patients. Every other weekend work is mandatory. Key competencies include administering chemotherapy and managing side effects. Skills necessary for the role include managing complications related to blood cancers and acute tumor lysis syndrome. Experience with isolation precautions and telemetry monitoring is required. The facility provides interdisciplinary support including pharmacy, physical therapy, and social services. Candidates must be proficient in using electronic health record systems. All staff will float within the service line as required. A thorough understanding of patient demographic needs is critical for effective care delivery.
