Principal Software Development Engineer, Execution Services

About the Role DriveWealth is a global fintech infrastructure company delivering investing and financial services through its API‑first Brokerage‑as‑a‑Service platform. The Principal Software Development Engineer will work on the Execution Services Engineering team to build an ultra‑low latency, high‑throughput trading system and the supporting tools for global deployments. What You’ll Do Design, develop, and maintain the technical architecture of high‑performance, low‑latency brokerage systems using Java and Golang. Assess the health and performance of software applications and databases, providing solutions as needed. Develop and maintain REST APIs and microservices. Collaborate with Broker‑Dealer Operations teams to enhance trading and backend systems across asset classes such as equities, options, and mutual funds. Define specifications, develop components, modify existing stacks, prepare test data, and draft functional specifications. Analyze service and application performance using a range of programming languages, tools, and techniques. Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teammates. Offer guidance to non‑technical staff on effective use of software and hardware systems. Support applications through system integration, test planning, scripting, and troubleshooting. What You’ll Need Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience. At least 10 years of software engineering experience with expertise in Java. Strong understanding of Test‑Driven Development and effective unit/integration tests. Proficient in CI/CD and automated testing frameworks. Experience developing robust REST APIs and event‑driven architectures using Kafka and Kubernetes. Background in financial technology or capital markets required. Proficient with NoSQL, SQL, and stored procedures (Postgres, MySQL). Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems. Knowledge of Jira, Git, and Jenkins. Experience with 24/7, highly‑available architectures. Strong experience with Amazon Web Services. Experience with Scrum and other Agile processes. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills. Special Knowledge (Nice to Have) Experience with Amazon Web Services beyond core services. Experience scripting for data extraction and transformation on Linux. Multiple years of experience in fintech domains such as post‑trade, payments, or SaaS. Locations New York City Metro – 3 days/week in‑office. Chicago Metro – 3 days/week in‑office. Compensation Pay Range: $220,000–$235,000 USD (based on experience and qualifications).
