Surgical Oncologist

Carilion Clinic, Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM), and the Department of Surgery are seeking a fellowship-trained Surgical Oncologist to join their growing team in Roanoke, Virginia. This is an exceptional opportunity to be part of a clinic-based, academic program with significant prospects in teaching, research, and clinical surgery, focusing on hepatopancreatobiliary and advanced gastrointestinal malignancies. The role offers comprehensive, multi-disciplinary care within a dynamic academic multi-specialty group practice. Practice Info Join a growing team of three surgeons and four advanced practice providers in a clinic-based, academic program. The program provides comprehensive surgical oncology coverage to over one million people in a large, rural, multi-state area. Surgical oncology services are also provided in several other Carilion hospitals. Clinical pathology is exceptionally broad, and surgeons perform the full breadth of procedures of all levels of complexity. Based in the Level-1 763-bed trauma and academic health center, Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. The new Carilion Taubman Cancer Center is anticipated to open in 2027-2028. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive surgical oncology coverage. Perform the full breadth of procedures of all levels of complexity. Participate in teaching activities. Engage in research activities. Compensation Min Starting Salary: $445,142 Max Starting Salary: $696,707 Base salary plus two-tiered bonus plan based on scorecard initiatives and production. You are eligible to participate in the Tier 1 and Tier 2 bonus compensation programs to improve the minimum salary. Historical averages of Tier 1 and Tier 2 bonus earnings are included in the maximum salary.
