Lead Software Engineer - Java/Python - Jersey City

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, plus 5+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering, including system design, application development, testing, and operational support
• Strong back-end development skills, such as Java, Spring Boot, or Python, with experience building microservices-based applications
• Proven ability to solve design and functional challenges independently with limited oversight
• Experience with cloud environments such as AWS or Azure, distributed systems, and web technologies including RESTful APIs, web services, WebSockets, and JSON
• Practical experience designing and delivering scalable applications using SQL and NoSQL databases
• Background working in agile delivery environments, such as Scrum
• Demonstrated experience using approved AI-assisted software development tools effectively, including setting expectations for validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure input/output handling, and resiliency and security expectations, with experience coaching engineers on safe and compliant adoption
• Proficiency across all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Advanced understanding of agile practices such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security

• Preferred: banking domain experience and working knowledge of wealth planning tools

• Design, develop, and troubleshoot software solutions with creative approaches that go beyond routine methods
• Build secure, high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others
• Identify opportunities to remove or automate fixes for recurring issues to improve stability across software applications and systems
• Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical credibility, and fit with existing systems and information architecture
• Lead communities of practice across software engineering to increase awareness and adoption of emerging technologies
• Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, while maintaining validation standards and encouraging reuse of effective patterns
• Apply knowledge of software development lifecycle tools, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value delivered through automation
