Senior Data Analyst

Title: Senior Data Analyst with IBM DataStage ETL Expertise About the Role Client is seeking a Senior Data Analyst with ETL Expertise to join its Data Management team within the Information Technology (IT) Division. This role is central to NYCERS' Legacy Replacement Program , a large-scale, enterprise-wide initiative to modernize mission-critical pension administration systems currently running on mainframe/VSAM architecture. The successful candidate will provide hands-on technical expertise across the full data lifecycle - profiling, cleansing, conversion, migration, and validation - as legacy VSAM data is transformed into modern relational/dimensional SQL structures. This is a high-visibility role supporting both the Legacy Replacement effort and NYCERS' broader, ongoing process improvement programs. What You'll Do Perform detailed field-level and metadata analysis of legacy VSAM files to support conversion into relational/dimensional SQL tables Conduct data profiling and source-to-target mapping across mixed Mainframe and Relational Database environments Build and maintain the organization's master data dictionary , including business terms, valid values, and definitions Support database design for NYCERS' mission-critical applications and maintain a component inventory Extract field references and calculated/derived data from COBOL programs to inform mapping and validation logic Develop and execute ETL pipelines using IBM DataStage to move and transform data between legacy and target systems Design and run complex SQL data validations based on Source-to-Target Mapping documents (STTMs) and target data models Collaborate with the Data Management team on process improvement initiatives beyond the core migration effort Develop reporting deliverables using SSRS Required Qualifications (Mandatory) Minimum 5 years of source-to-target data mapping experience spanning mixed Mainframe and Relational Database environments Experience creating data dictionary documentation (business terms, valid values, definitions) Experience converting/migrating VSAM data to relational/dimensional SQL distributed databases Minimum 3 years of recent experience developing applications using IBM DataStage ETL Experience extracting field references and calculated data from COBOL programs Experience with BMC Control-M workload automation software Experience with GIT version control Minimum 3 years of recent experience with Pension Administration systems Required Technical Ability Strong SQL skills, including complex queries and stored procedures Proficiency in SSRS report development Strong analytical skills - able to interpret requirements and propose solutions aligned with team methodology Ability to work across multiple environments: IBM Mainframe, Windows Server, and SQL Server Proficiency in mainframe technologies: COBOL, CICS, and DB2 Solid understanding of data structures and their relationship to ETL processes Ability to build complex SQL-based data validations from STTMs and target data models Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and information-gathering skills, plus fundamental technical troubleshooting ability Desirable Qualifications Experience extracting business rules from existing legacy code Experience with Data Quality / Data Profiling tools Experience with Data Warehouses / Data Marts Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) Prior experience in a pension system environment - New York State or New York City pension systems preferred Work Location & Schedule This is a hybrid position ; onsite presence is required at: 335 Adam Street, Suite 2300, Brooklyn, NY 11201 Submission Requirements Minimum of 3 professional references required at time of submission Candidate must clearly demonstrate alignment with all mandatory skills/experience listed above; submissions lacking evidence of mandatory qualifications may not be considered RIT Solutions, Inc.
