Blue Diamond Materials is one of the companies that operates within Sully-Miller Contracting Co., the Colas USA subsidiary that operates throughout Southern California. We are part of Sully-Miller Companies consisting of Sully-Miller Contracting Co., Blue Diamond Materials and United Rock Products. Each company supports the other. United Rock provides the aggregate, Blue Diamond Materials provides the hot and warm mix asphalt manufacturing, and Sully-Miller Contracting executes the projects. Blue Diamond has five asphalt plants located throughout Southern California- Irwindale, Inglewood, South Gate, Sun Valley and Victorville.

Job Description: Compensation $150,000-$190,000 Annually

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Manufacturing Controller to oversee financial operations within our manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support decision-making processes and improve operational efficiency.

Main Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
• Develop, implement, and monitor budgeting and forecasting processes
• Conduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies and provide actionable insights
• Collaborate with operations and management teams to enhance cost control measures
• Oversee inventory management and cost accounting processes
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards
• Lead financial audits and coordinate with external auditors
• Provide financial support for capital projects and investment decisions
• Mentor and lead a team of finance professionals
• Maintain and develop internal control procedures
• Uphold Colas ethics and business principles
• Ad hoc projects and reporting as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education

A bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in accounting, finance or other applicable degree

Skills

At least 7 years of accounting work experience is acceptable for this position

Construction industry accounting experience

Strong knowledge of both GAAP and IFRS including revenue recognition and lease accounting standards

Previous experience managing a small team

Ideal candidate will have CPA and/or CMA certification

Excellent time management and organization skills with the ability to prioritize and follow-up on multiple concurrent tasks

Must possess excellent skills with Microsoft Windows and MS Office Suite, particularly Outlook and Excel (intermediate level)

Experience with JDE, Sage, Timberline, or other enterprise construction industry software a plus

Highly motivated, positive, professional, organized, detail oriented, and an effective communicator

Physical Requirements

Ability to utilize hands and fingers in order to type and carry reports should the need require

Ability to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands throughout the workday should the need arise

Ability to sit for a long period of time, possibly more than 90% of the workday

Ability to see clearly or with assistance via necessary correction
