We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support a construction-focused organization in Summerville, South Carolina on a Contract basis. This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented accountant who can bring structure to financial records, strengthen reporting accuracy, and help organize outstanding receivable activity. The position will focus on core accounting operations, cleanup efforts, and timely close support, with the potential for an extended engagement based on business needs and individual performance.

Responsibilities:
• Lead month-end accounting activities, including preparing and reviewing entries needed to maintain accurate financial records.
• Maintain the general ledger by investigating discrepancies, correcting balances, and ensuring transactions are properly recorded.
• Perform account and bank reconciliations to confirm completeness, resolve variances, and improve confidence in reported figures.
• Review and organize historical spreadsheet-based financial data to improve usability, support reporting, and identify outstanding accounts receivable items.
• Assist with bringing accounting records into QuickBooks and help establish a more efficient process for ongoing reconciliation work.
• Partner with stakeholders to address a backlog of accounting items spanning recent months and bring records up to date.
• Prepare supporting documentation and analysis that enables clearer visibility into cash activity, balances, and open customer amounts.
