Serving over 6,000 students, the college offers a comprehensive selection of five doctoral, 11 master’s, and 12 bachelor’s programs, which are supported by five departments: Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. The college leverages its collaborative research community to drive nearly half of the research expenditures of the university and has experienced rapid growth in its research ecosystem over the past five years. Being located in the Dallas-Ft. Worth region provides access to one of the most dynamic technical regions in the country.

Position Overview

The College of Engineering at the University of North Texas is seeking highly qualified candidates for 13 tenured and tenure-track faculty positions in several research clusters to fill positions across the college. The selected candidates will be expected to work collaboratively within their cluster and across the college while supporting their home department.

This cluster is collaborative between Biomedical Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering. It includes three total lines: two at the assistant professor rank (one each in Biomedical Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering) and one at the full professor rank (in Biomedical Engineering). Candidates are sought whose research addresses fundamental or translational challenges in cancer through innovative engineering and computational approaches. Fields of interest include but are not limited to:

• Cancer diagnostics : biomedical imaging, biomedical optics, molecular imaging, biosensors, liquid biopsy, AI-enabled diagnostics, and computational pathology.
• Cancer therapeutics : nanomedicine, targeted drug delivery, immunoengineering, biomaterials, cell and gene therapies, cancer immunotherapy, and precision oncology.

The candidates for these positions are expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses; develop a strong research program funded by external sources, support and mentor graduate students; and provide service to the University and the profession.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications include a Ph.D. in a related engineering discipline.

For an Assistant Professor position, a strong publication record and the potential to succeed in securing research funding and mentoring graduate students are required.

For a Full Professor position, an international reputation for collaborative scholarly research and leadership in the field are also required.

Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.

Preferred Qualifications

A sustained record of providing mentoring to junior faculty, advising graduate students, publications, providing service to the University and profession, and securing external funding for research activities with current research funding.
