Position Overview and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering direct patient care in accordance with the Registered Nurse Practice Act.

This role involves employing therapeutic communication techniques in daily interactions, ensuring a safe and supportive environment. The RN identifies nursing challenges based on the unique needs of each patient and develops personalized care plans using a collaborative approach. Participation in performance improvement initiatives is also expected, as well as providing care that aligns with the hospital’s mission and vision.

In the capacity of charge nurse, RNs oversee daily operations to guarantee high-quality patient care in a supportive setting. Responsibilities include making staff assignments based on patient needs, acuity levels, and staff competencies. RNs also serve as mentors and clinical resources for team members, responding promptly to inquiries or issues raised by physicians, staff, or patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, and evaluate patient care needs while executing physician orders.

• Administer prescribed medications, change dressings, clean wounds, and monitor vital signs.

• Document and communicate patient conditions effectively using computerized systems.

• Educate patients and their families as part of a Multidisciplinary Care Planning team.

Qualifications Required:

• Registered Nurse with a degree from an accredited nursing program.

• Current licensure with the Tennessee Board of Nursing.

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within six months of hire.

• Preferred: One year of clinical nursing experience.

Our facility is a 270+ bed hospital located near downtown Chattanooga, offering a wide range of diagnostic, medical, and surgical services. These include cardiovascular surgery, cancer treatment, intensive care, orthopedic and spine surgery, and rehabilitation. We also feature a state-of-the-art neurosurgery program, OB-GYN services, and a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), along with behavioral health treatment centers for both children and adults.
