FORKLIFT OPERATOR

Material Handler
Peoplelink Staffing is seeking a dependable and hardworking Material Handler to support waste and recycling operations in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must have prior forklift experience, a valid driver's license with a good driving record, and a strong commitment to workplace safety and efficiency.
Job Details

• Schedule: Monday-Friday
• 10-hour
  • 1st shift 6:00AM-2:30PM
  • 2nd shift 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM
• Location: 100 N Rivian Motorway, Normal, IL 61761

Material Handler Responsibilities

• Receive and process incoming waste and recyclable materials
• Operate forklifts and other equipment to transport materials throughout the facility
• Load and unload trailers safely and efficiently
• Organize, cut, and bale cardboard and trash materials
• Assist with waste management processes including recycling, pallet disposal, and trash removal
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas both inside and outside the facility
• Track inventory and assist with scheduling pickups and shipments
• Distribute containers and supplies to departments as needed
• Assist supervisors with donation items and operational support tasks
• Perform other duties as assigned

Equipment Operated

• Forklifts
• Tuggers
• Compactors
• Balers
• Additional material handling equipment as needed

Essential Functions

• Follow all company safety procedures and protocols at all times
• Operate forklifts and equipment safely and efficiently
• Ensure quality standards and contracted services are consistently met
• Work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Assist with supply and equipment management to support operational needs
• Attend required training workshops and meetings
• Comply with company policies and all federal, state, and local regulations
• Follow direction from supervisors and management

Waste & Recycling Duties

• Collect and transport trash and recycling containers to designated processing areas
• Empty waste into appropriate compactors and outside roll-off containers
• Load cardboard into balers and prepare bales for shipment
• Assist with pallet and wood waste collection and trailer loading
• Properly handle manifested waste including hazardous, non-hazardous, universal waste, and used oil
• Assist with moving, labeling, storing, and loading regulated waste materials
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of recycling and waste storage areas

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of similar work experience required
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record required
• Previous forklift experience required
• Forklift certification preferred; training available
• Ability to lift 25 lbs. regularly, up to 50 lbs. independently, and up to 75 lbs. with assistance
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Good interpersonal and communication abilities
• Ability to work safely and independently in a fast-paced environment
