Senior Data Engineer, DX

Salary: $138,942 - 218,550 per year Requirements:

• Were looking for someone with strong SQL skills, including the ability to craft complex queries, tune performance, and shape data for analytical use cases.
• You should have hands-on experience with Postgres or similar relational databases, including semi-structured data such as JSONB and nested fields.
• We need experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines that move data from production systems into analytics-ready formats.
• You should be comfortable working with large, messy, real-world datasets and know how to clean, standardize, and validate data at scale.
• Strong documentation habits are important; you should be able to produce clear schema documentation, data dictionaries, and pipeline runbooks proactively.
• You should be self-directed and dependable, with the ability to manage recurring deadlines such as quarterly reporting cycles with minimal oversight.
• Nice to have: experience with SaaS product data, telemetry, or event-driven data.
• Nice to have: familiarity with developer tooling data such as Git, GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket activity, CI/CD pipeline metrics, or Jira issue data.
• Nice to have: exposure to survey data, time-series analysis, or benchmarking methodologies.

• We build and maintain data pipelines that extract, transform, and load live product data into research-ready formats such as Postgres, a data lake, or an analytics warehouse.
• We design and optimize data models for the recurring analyses behind our AI Impact Reports, DX Core 4 benchmarks, and industry publications.
• We work closely with research and engineering teams to understand analytical needs and turn them into scalable, reproducible data infrastructure.
• We ensure data quality and consistency by carefully handling definitions, edge cases, and repeatability.
• We support ad hoc data requests for time-sensitive research and cross-functional needs from Sales, Customer Success, and product teams.
• We document schemas, transformation logic, data dictionaries, and pipeline dependencies so analysts and researchers can self-serve with confidence.
