After Care Counselor

The Campus is seeking to add counselors to our growing After Care program. Working under the direction of the Childcare Director, this part-time position covers the school year (late August through early June) and offers a valuable experience for those looking to work with students in grades K through 6.

• Afternoon shifts are available 2:30p.m. through 6:30p.m., Monday through Friday. 
• Day Off Camps offer the opportunity for additional shifts based on scheduled school closures.
• There is an additional opportunity to work in our Summer Camp program June through August as well.

The candidate must have a high school diploma and be over the age of 18 .

Previous childcare experience is preferred.

Qualities and expectations of an aftercare counselor include:

• The ability to lead and supervise a group of students and ensure a safe, fun experience during aftercare hours.
• Maintaining organization and cleanliness of the aftercare space, toys and supplies.
• Implementing and participating in daily afternoon activities as scheduled in both indoor and outdoor environments.
• The ability to assist students with homework completion as needed.
• The ability to assist students when they are displaying inappropriate behaviors. The director as well as other staff can also assist as needed.
• Communicating with parents at pick up and maintaining safe dismissal practices.
• Contributing to a positive environment through your language, attitude, sensitivity and participation.
• Being a team player and working cohesively with other team members.

Aftercare Counselors must have or obtain the following within 2 weeks of hiring:

• Criminal Background Check
  • This clearance is valid for 60 months.
  • This clearance costs $22.

• Child Abuse Clearance
  • This clearance is valid for 60 months.
  • You should follow the instructions for creating an individual account.
  • This clearance costs $13.00.

• FBI Clearance
  • use the code 1KG738 (1KG738)
  • This clearance is valid for 60 months.
  • You will need to schedule an appointment for digital fingerprinting to obtain this clearance. Please print your registration to bring to your fingerprinting appointment. We recommend using the AAA in Downingtown.
  • This clearance costs $24.95

• PA NSOR (National Sex Offender Registry) Clearance
  • Please select the “employed in a regulated childcare” category on the form. The fastest way for this to process is to email it to the address listed on the form.
  • This is a free clearance.

• PA Mandated Reporter Training (good for five years)
  • This training Is FREE however, it takes about 3 hours to complete and may not save your progress if you have to pause.

• Disclosure Statement
  • Will be provided during onboarding.

• Two letters of recommendation
  • These must be written by non-family members

• Proof of Education
  • Diploma, report card, transcripts, etc.

• Copy of Driver's License/Identification
  • State-issued ID, passport, etc.

• Health and Safety Basics Course
  • 10 hour course (this should be FREE)
    • Title “Getting Started with Center-Based Care Revised 2022”

• All new employees will receive Emergency and Fire Safety Training at time of hire and annually thereafter.

• TB/Physical
  • Ask the Childcare Director if you need forms- most providers will print it out for you with all the necessary information.
  • TB test is needed once every 2 years; an updated physical needs to be provided annually

PREFERRED but not required:

• First Aid/CPR/AED Training
  • Current certification for PEDIATRIC First Aid/CPR/AED.
