Job Title: Press Operator
Job Description

The Press Operator sets up and operates brake press equipment to bend, form, stretch, and straighten metal components, while also performing deburring tasks to inspect and refine parts. This role ensures high-quality finished parts by safely handling raw materials and finished products, adjusting machine parameters, and interpreting technical drawings in a clean, climate-controlled production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up brake press equipment to bend, form, stretch, and straighten metal plates, metal extrusions, formed sheet metal, and weldments according to specifications.
  • Operate press brake machinery safely and efficiently to meet production targets and quality standards.
  • Inspect parts for defects or irregularities and ensure they meet required measurements and tolerances.
  • Perform deburring tasks by polishing and refining parts to remove sharp edges or raised material left from machining, cutting, or forming processes.
  • Use grinding and related equipment to smooth and finish metal surfaces as required.
  • Read and analyze technical drawings to determine correct machine settings, tooling, and sequence of operations.
  • Adjust machine parameters to achieve proper dimensions, angles, and finishes on metal parts.
  • Load, position, and unload raw materials and finished parts safely into and out of the press brake.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Follow all safety procedures and production guidelines while performing general labor and machine operation tasks as needed.
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience operating a press brake in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to set up and operate brake press equipment for bending, forming, stretching, and straightening metal components.
  • Ability to perform deburring, including inspecting, polishing, and refining parts to remove sharp edges or raised material.
  • Proficiency with grinding machines and related finishing tools.
  • Experience with general machine operation and production work.
  • Ability to read and analyze technical drawings to determine required operations and machine settings.
  • Skill in adjusting machine parameters to meet dimensional and quality requirements.
  • Ability to safely load, position, and unload raw materials and finished parts into press brake equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and work effectively in a production environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Comfort working with metal plates, metal extrusions, formed sheet metal, and weldments.
  • Willingness to perform general labor tasks to support production needs.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability in adhering to assigned schedules.

Work Environment

This role operates in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing plant on a first-shift schedule, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with potential overtime before and/or after the regular shift. The environment centers on press brake and grinding equipment within a modern facility that continues to add new machines, providing exposure to up-to-date production technologies. You will work on the production floor around metal fabrication processes while maintaining a safe and orderly workspace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lawrenceburg, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $26.00/hr.
