Job Description

The Senior Group Manager Finance oversees a team of Business Finance professionals who provide strategic financial analysis, insights, decision support, and reporting, and offer guidance to internal and external stakeholders.

Depth & Scope

• Provides people‑management leadership by hiring best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork, and handling disciplinary actions as required.
• Oversees a team of Finance professionals for key business segments or a significantly large part of the organization.
• Requires in‑depth shareholder and/or broad financial and business perspective.
• Scope may include integration of activities and Finance support for several key business lines.
• Focuses on longer‑range issues dealing with and solving highly sensitive, confidential, and/or complex financial management challenges.
• Primary interface and high‑level resource to Business leaders on financial performance measures, business objectives, and goals.
• Integrates knowledge of the enterprise function’s or business segment’s overarching strategy in leading program design, policy formulation, or operating standards within one or more areas of expertise.
• Anticipates emerging business trends and regulatory/risk issues as a basis for recommending large‑scale product, technical, functional, or operations improvements.

Education & Experience

• Undergraduate degree.
• 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Accounting or financial designation preferred.
• People management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hyperion Essbase experience.
• Budgeting experience.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Wealth experience a plus.
• Legal entity reporting.

Customer Accountabilities

• Develops and maintains good relationships with internal Finance business/specialized Finance partners and stakeholders.
• Effectively communicates relevant recommendations on finance management issues to all levels within the organization.
• Ensures team collaboration with partners on business problems and provides fact‑based analytical advice aligned to strategy and driving shareholder value.
• Liaises with internal/external auditors, regulators, and ensures appropriate action where required.
• Acts as subject‑matter expert and provides recommendations to support dealings with internal/external partners.
• Contributes to due diligence and execution of potential business restructures, acquisitions, joint ventures, and divestitures within own area of responsibility.
• Develops and/or assesses significant business cases/new initiatives applying expertise and ensuring criteria for own area are met.
• Manages client requests for finance support and ensures solutions balance partner needs with overall Finance capabilities.
• Provides strategic support through assigned portfolios/journeys and delivers relevant Finance insights to the program.
• Participates on internal/external committees to represent TD’s interests.

Shareholder Accountabilities

• Plans resources and executes on strategic resourcing activity, reviews team results, and adjusts methodologies.
• Leads/supports execution on the annual business plan to deliver results aligned with business strategy.
• Manages overall budget, revenue, and expenditures to meet business objectives while increasing efficiency.
• Leverages data systems to formulate solutions that solve business problems.
• Identifies key business opportunities, researches and recommends enhancements, develops strategies, and implements them.
• Monitors and communicates effectiveness of strategies, programs, and practices.
• Protects the organization’s interests by managing risks and escalating high‑risk transactions.
• Recommends and supports implementation of action plans to address performance, risk, and governance issues.
• Keeps abreast of emerging issues, trends, and regulatory requirements and assesses impacts.
• Maintains a culture of risk‑based management and control aligned with risk appetite.
• Ensures colleagues are knowledgeable and minimize regulatory risk in compliance withBank and industry Code of Conduct.
