About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, EKG interpretation class Must-Have: 2 years of experience in CCU or high-end stepdown unit. Preferably, 2 years of experience in telemetry. Description: This position requires strong customer service skills and a team-oriented approach. The unit is divided into three sections, each with specific patient care needs. Patient-to-nurse ratios are generally 1:4, except in specific areas where the ratio is 1:3. Candidates must be able to titrate drips, including heparin, with experience preferred but not required. It is essential that RNs have the ability to read and interpret telemetry strips. Patient care technicians are present, with a typical staffing level of 1-2 per shift based on patient census. Respiratory therapists are responsible for equipment maintenance; vent experience is not required for RNs. There is a charge nurse on the unit who typically does not take on a patient load. All nurses, except those in specialized areas, are expected to float to other units as necessary. Travelers will be prioritized for floating assignments. The unit has a modified self-scheduling system based on staffing needs. Weekend and holiday requirements include every other weekend and one major and one minor holiday per year. Candidates should be prepared for a collaborative work environment where strong interpersonal skills are critical. Flexibility and adaptability are essential attributes, as the environment can be challenging. Potential cancellation of shifts could occur based on assignment length. The charting system utilized in this unit is Cerner.
