Join Great Hearts Academies, a growing network of 49 public, open-enrollment, tuition-free classical schools in Phoenix (AZ), Baton Rouge (LA), Dallas/Ft. Worth (TX), and San Antonio (TX). Great Hearts currently provides over 30,000 K-12 students with access to a high quality, classical liberal arts education. We believe the highest goal of education is to become good, intellectually and morally.**Physical Education at Great Hearts:*** All Great Hearts Elementary School students take Physical Education.* The goal of the Physical Education class is to promote both the physical health and the growth in virtue of each student.* Rigorous and joyful PE classes have a combination of strength and cardio exercises, training in the basics of sports, and discussions on the virtues, including fortitude, temperance, prudence, and justice.* Sports include baseball, soccer, volleyball, football, and basketball.**Roles and Responsibilities:*** Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, preparing thoughtful lessons and cultivating an orderly, joyful classroom that supports the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.* Provide appropriate academic support to students, monitor progress, and partner with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs in a timely manner.* Uphold and model the culture, policies, and expectations of Great Hearts, including dress code, conduct, and safety procedures, contributing to a respectful and orderly school environment.* Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home-school partnerships.* Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.**Distinctive benefits for Great Hearts faculty*** Exceptional Benefits (medical, dental, vision etc.) with minimal employee cost* Texas Teacher Retirement System* Uniquely valuable professional development offerings, from great books seminars with academy colleagues, to leadership and special education coursework/pathways, to reduced tuition graduate degree support with select partner universities**Required/Preferred Education:*** Bachelor's or higher degree is required for a lead teaching role* Certification is not required for general education* All majors are welcome**US work authorization required****Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.****Travel required: May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.****This description reflects management’s assignment of essential functions.
