Role: Senior Advertising Strategist (Amazon Marketplace)
Location: San Diego, CA 92101 (Onsite at Symphony Towers)
Compensation Range: $90,000 - $120,000 DOE

We’re looking for a Senior Advertising Strategist to lead digital ad campaigns for Amazon and other retail media platforms. In this role, you'll own strategy, guide junior team members, and help shape the future of our ad services.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Build and restructure Sponsored Products, Brands and Display campaigns across your brands
• Run waste audits, set negation thresholds and defend them with numbers
• Decide where branded spend is worth it and where organic rank already has it covered
• Take a bad metric and turn it into a good one, then explain in a client meeting exactly what you changed and why
• Mentor junior team members and share your expertise
• Sit in the room with brand management, content, catalog and supply chain teams to collaborate on growth strategies for our brands

✅ What You Bring

• Hands-on management of Amazon Sponsored Products or Sponsored Brands inside Ad Console within the last 12 months. Hands-on Google Ads or Microsoft Ads paid search within the last 12 months also counts - we have hired strong paid search people into this seat and it worked.
• 5+ years in digital advertising, with your most recent platform work no more than 18 months old
• Fluency in negation strategy, match types and harvesting
• Google Sheets & Excel analysis
• Comfortable presenting data and defending a recommendation directly to clients
• Able to work onsite in San Diego 5 days a week

➕ Nice to have, not required

• Agency or multi-brand seller experience
• Perpetua, Helium 10 or similar tooling
• Walmart Connect, Instacart Ads or other retail media breadth
• Experience mentoring junior strategists or owning training content
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business or a related field, or the equivalent in experience

Your first 90 days

Your first two weeks are spent learning our processes and meeting the people you will work with daily. Over the following 90 days you learn the Luminize advertising methodology by shadowing strategists on live accounts and working through real scenarios from our book. After one to two months you take on your first directly managed accounts with manager oversight, and you ramp toward a full book of 7 to 10 brands. Roughly 60 to 70 percent of your week is heads-down execution inside the platform.

The upside is that you are in the room where the decisions actually get made, and you will learn this business faster than you would anywhere remote.

Compensation Transparency

We’ve listed a broad salary range of $90,000-$120,000/year to account for varying levels of experience, skill sets, and leadership depth. Where you land in the range will depend on how your background aligns with this role.
