This role focuses on gathering, organizing, and verifying medical records, test results, and documentation to support efficient and high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, experience with medical records, and prior Medical Assistant experience in a clinical setting.Key Responsibilities:Prepare and review patient charts in advance of oncology appointments to ensure completeness and accuracyObtain and organize relevant medical records including: physician notes, diagnostic reports (pathology, imaging, lab results), hospital records and consult notesVerify patient information, medication lists, and history for accuracyFollow up with external providers, hospitals, and diagnostic facilities to obtain missing recordsUpload and correctly index documents into the electronic medical record (EMR) systemEnsure all required documentation is available for provider review prior to patient visitMaintain compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality standardsCommunicate with clinical staff and providers regarding incomplete or missing informationMA Duties:-Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment room as appropriate.-Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.-Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms and orders supplies as needed.-Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.-Assists with delegated patient education including but not limited to distributing education literature, etc.-Obtains blood specimens from peripheral sites as needed and in accordance with OSHA and universal precautions.-Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, including but not limited to, hormones and biological growth factors.-Maintains all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.QualificationsHigh school graduate or equivalent. Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants required. Minimum two years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic setting. Current CPR certification required.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
