About the Role

The Company is seeking a Senior Counsel to ensure that its business practices, policies, and dealings comply with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for representing the company in regulatory proceedings, interpreting and preparing legal documents, and providing expert counsel on a range of legal and regulatory matters. This role also involves analyzing proposed legislation, drafting legal documents, and assisting in the management of both internal and external regulatory legal counsel. A key aspect of the position is to help develop and maintain positive relationships with regulatory commissions and other stakeholders. Applicants for the Senior Counsel position at the company must have a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school, be admitted to the practice of law in Indiana or Ohio, or be eligible for admission, and have a minimum of 5 years' relevant working experience. The ideal candidate will have a background in practicing law as in-house counsel, at a law firm, in private practice, or in a government entity, with specific experience in working with the Public Utility Commission of Ohio, Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission, or Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. While not mandatory, experience as in-house counsel for a major utility company and in representing a company in regulatory proceedings before state and federal agencies is considered a plus. The role requires a professional who can also demonstrate experience as a supervising authority over outside counsel.
