Safety Manager

Base Salary: Up to $135,000 annually (based on experience) Per Diem: Provided for eligible project assignments Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance 401(k) with Company Match Company-Paid Life & AD&D Insurance Short-Term & Long-Term Disability Paid Time Off (PTO) Paid Holidays Additional company-sponsored benefits Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead all health and safety efforts on heavy civil construction projects. This individual will be responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing comprehensive safety programs while ensuring compliance with OSHA and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing safety on heavy civil and federal design-build projects. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and enforce site safety policies, procedures, and programs. Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations. Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments. Perform Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and implement corrective actions to eliminate or reduce risks. Partner with project managers, superintendents, and field personnel to integrate safety into daily operations. Lead new hire safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety training. Investigate accidents, incidents, injuries, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and corrective action plans. Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, training, and safety documentation. Monitor the effectiveness of safety programs and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Coordinate with regulatory agencies, project owners, and stakeholders to ensure ongoing compliance. Promote a proactive safety culture across all project activities. Required Qualifications Minimum 10 years of construction safety and site safety management experience. Experience serving as the Safety Manager on at least two federal design-build projects with a total construction value of $5 million or greater . Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Safety Standards. Experience with heavy civil or horizontal construction projects involving: Excavation and earthwork Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance for access to secure facilities, including military installations. Thorough understanding of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable safety regulations. Experience with safety management systems and compliance documentation. Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Preferred Qualifications Experience with USACE and/or NAVFAC projects. EM 385-1-1 Safety and Health training. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification. Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
