Occupational Therapist / Level II - OTR/L  (OT Dept. Lead)

Our Center is looking to hire a passionate, well organized, energetic clinical OT provider specialized in pediatrics and sensory integration disorders to onboard and support growing clientele currently waitlisted.  Preferred candidate to have NDT certification to treat this population, but it is not required.

This position requires providing a wide range of direct services to pediatric to adult clients having challenging, or barrier-type, behaviors and included rendering clinical assessments and evaluations, conducting inter-disciplinary evaluations, 1:1 direct service provision, progress reporting, completing insurance authorizations, familial involvement, completing case reviews for intake, training/mentoring, multi and inter-disciplinary collaboration, crafting treatment plans and sensory diets, developing Center-wide recreational indoor / outdoor activities, crafting and implementing activities for external non-profit charitable events, supporting other OT department staff and clinical practicum and supervising COTA staff in clinical environment and year-round Center-Based, day treatment programs. 

Occupational treatments to occur in a day treatment clinical setting working alongside populations including Level II and III Autism, Global Developmental Delays, Non-verbal, life skill delayed, intellectually delayed, having behavior barriers and other developmental challenges.   Many of the clients use Assistive Technology devices for communication. 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Competencies:

• Engage with clinical team members daily to create a positive, fun, and professional team-oriented culture in a fast-paced and expanding diverse group practice.
• Experience overseeing and implementing OT Student Practicum and Internship program across multiple agency relationships
• Enter progress notes on a daily basis and comply with provider terms and point of service documentation and conditions
• Provide supervision and department oversight to COTA employees
• Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively and timely to keep goals and objectives of the organization moving forward.
• Must have diverse prior clinical experience developing, writing, implementing and evaluating individuals for Occupational Therapy Services which shall also include working with patients using (AAC) Alternative and Augmentative Communication Technologies.
• Prior experience collaborating and coaching other therapeutic disciplines in standards for providing evidence-based, best practice, Occupational Therapy service delivery.
• Must have clinical working knowledge of HIPAA privacy and policy practices and standards of performance.
• Strong experience in administering a variety of OT assessments and evaluations
• Prior clinical and/or educational experience working 1:1 with clients/learners with challenging behaviors for extended periods of time.
• Prior experience supporting full caseload of clients
• Experience working collectively among executive leadership, a multi-disciplinary team, directors, administrative staff, while supporting a diverse clientele and busy schedule.
• Demonstrate discretion and the ability to maintain confidential and private information.
• Demonstrate compliance regarding training of internal company policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate strong working knowledge of SC medical billing practices and policies to ensure compliance with state agencies including, DDSN, DHHS, Private Insurance Carriers, ADA and SC State Medicaid/Healthy Connections, SC Medicaid Waivers, and more.

SKILLS & ABILITIES 

Education & Licensing: 

• Must be in possession of a current SC state license to practice and be able to provide NPI Number (preferred but not required)
• Must be registered with National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) or other OTA board.
• Must have Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university
• Additional certification in Sensory Processing Disorder required
• Additional certification in NDT preferred, not required

Experience: 

• Minimum 5-10 years of rendering services in clinical setting to children and adults.

Technology Skills: 

• Strong knowledge using PC, MAC, IPAD and TouchIt technologies.
• Basic knowledge or exposure to use of Augmentative & Alternative Communication Hi-Tech Speech Devices in a therapy session – preferred skill but not required.
• Strong working knowledge of Central Reach Behavioral Health & Medical Billing Software.
• Strong working knowledge of Central Reach Data Collection Module
• Strong working knowledge of Google eSuite Platform: Drive, Calendar, Meetings, Etc.
• Some conceptual and working knowledge with IEP third party software platforms
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint
• Strong Knowledge of office technologies, i.e: iCloud technology for record keeping and document storage uploads, fax, scanner, label makers, laminating machine, printers, walkie-talkies, etc.

• Intermittent and minimal travel may be required for training, special meetings, BGC events, in-home observations, business development, continuing education, conferences, and more.
• Maintain licensing, certification and CEUs every year.
• Must pass background checks with drug testing, fingerprinting included
• CPR and First Aid Certifications, preferred
• Crisis Prevention Training required
• References and work materials may also be verified.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone. Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly to clients in person and over the telephone. Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of clients and reading information from printed sources and computer screens. Other: Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted, including assisting special needs children when required. Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite therapies. Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift. Requires exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
