Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Director of Pharmacy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

An interim leadership role is available for a Director of Pharmacy to oversee pharmacy operations at a well-established regional medical center in Iowa. This contract position serves a critical function in stabilizing pharmacy services while supporting recruitment efforts for a permanent hire. The facility operates a pharmacy staff of three pharmacists and four technicians and utilizes Meditech for order entry and Omnicell automation systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strong management and leadership to pharmacy staff, ensuring smooth daily operations
• Oversee staffing, scheduling, and limited on-call support as needed during weekdays
• Manage budgetary and financial aspects of the pharmacy department
• Maintain compliance with USP 797 and 800 standards for sterile compounding
• Facilitate communication with leadership and represent the pharmacy team during meetings
• Support recruitment and onboarding of new pharmacy staff
• Stabilize pharmacy operations following previous challenges, fostering an environment of safety and efficiency

Qualifications:

• Licensed pharmacist in the state of Iowa, with current and active credentials
• Experience in inpatient pharmacy settings, including management or supervisory roles
• Familiarity with Meditech order entry system and Omnicell automation preferred
• Knowledge of sterile compounding regulations and processes is essential
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills

Schedule:

• Monday through Friday during standard business hours with some flexibility to meet staffing demands
• Limited on-call duties may be required
