The Global Events team creates thoughtful, high-touch experiences that bring Akamai customer partners, executives, employees, and community guests together. This Event Specialist will provide day-to-day logistical support for our Executive Briefing Center and help delivery the growing number of events hosted at Akamai's Cambridge headquarters.

You will work closely with the Senior Event Specialist responsible for the Executive Briefing Center, the broader Global Events team, Sales, executive stakeholders, and headquarters partners. The role is highly operational and service-oriented, with a focus on keeping briefings organized, preparing the space, coordinating vendors and internal teams, and making sure each guest experience runs smoothly. You will also serve as the event lead for external organizations requesting to use the Cambridge headquarters, guiding requests from initial intake through onsite execution while ensuring building requirements and event standards are followed.

As an Event Specialist, you will be responsible for:

• Providing logistical and administrative support for Executive Briefing Center meetings from request intake through post-event follow-up
• Maintaining briefing calendars, planning documents, run-of-show materials, attendee details, room assignments, and other program records
• Coordinating meeting logistics including room setup, catering, audiovisual needs, signage, materials, guest registration, security access, and transportation details when needed
• Preparing the Executive Briefing Center before each program and supporting onsite execution to deliver a polished, welcoming experience for customers and executives
• Partnering with Sales teams, briefing owners, executive assistants, speakers, IT, Security, Workplace, Facilities, and catering teams to confirm requirements and resolve logistical needs
• Serving as the lead point of contact for external event requests at the Cambridge headquarters, including intake, feasibility review, planning, stakeholder coordination, and onsite delivery
• Communicating building guidelines and event requirements to external hosts and ensuring approved events follow Akamai policies, security protocols, catering standards, and space limitations
• Coordinating event vendors and tracking proposals, purchase requests, invoices, supplies, and event expenses in partnership with the event owner
• Supporting internal headquarters events and team programs as business needs and event volume require
• Tracking briefing and headquarters event activity, gathering feedback, and identifying practical ways to improve planning tools, processes, and the guest experience

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 2 years of relevant experience in events, hospitality, customer experience, office operations, or related field and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent
• Have strong organizational skills and close attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple programs and shifting priorities at the same time
• Have a service-oriented approach and feel comfortable supporting customers, executives, employees, vendors, and external guests
• Communicate clearly and professionally and know when to escalate questions, risks, or changes to the appropriate event lead
• Be comfortable owning logistical work independently while collaborating closely with a broader event team
• Be resourceful, calm, and adaptable when event details change or onsite issues arise
• Be proficient with common workplace tools and comfortable learning event registration, scheduling, and project-management platforms
• Be able to work regularly from Akamai's Cambridge headquarters, including occasional early mornings or evenings based on the event schedule

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $57,100 - $102,900/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
