Role Overview CVICU Registered Nurse (RN) at Emory Healthcare. Shift 7pm-7:30am, full time. The CVICU is a 33‑bed high‑acuity unit for complex cardiac, thoracic, and vascular procedures. Nurses provide advanced monitoring and life‑sustaining therapies. Key Responsibilities Deliver nursing care using the nursing process. Perform thorough patient assessments and develop and implement care plans. Document care accurately. Identify patient and family learning needs. Recognize cultural differences and individualize care. Delegate using the Synergy Model of Care. Work effectively with interdisciplinary team; include Charge Nurse duties when assigned. Assist in orienting staff and students. Communicate and resolve conflicts effectively. Identify policy revision needs and collect, report, and analyze data to improve patient care. Participate in surveys, interviews, and other methods to identify areas for improvement. Maintain required points and contact hours per the clinical lattice PLAN system. Manage mechanical ventilation, vasoactive infusions, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, chest tubes, temporary pacing, and targeted temperature management. Manage LVADs, RVADs, Impella devices, Intra‑aortic balloon pumps, ECMO, and continuous renal replacement therapy. Maintain nurse-to-patient ratio 1:1 or 1:2. Qualifications Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with 12 months recent nursing experience within past five years, or recent completion of a re‑entry nursing program. Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with minimum 2 years recent nursing experience within past five years. Current LPNs within Emory Healthcare system who completed an accredited RN program and obtain RN licensure are eligible to transition. Emory LPNs enrolled in Emory ADN program as of 3/30/2025 must sign an obligation agreement to complete ADN‑to‑BSN program within two years of entering the RN Clinician role. Licensure: Valid, unencumbered Registered Nursing License approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing. Certification: BLS certification. ACLS may be required for certain departments, post‑hire. Additional certifications may be required based on department and specialty. Active compact/multi‑state license (eNLC) required within 60 days of hire if virtual care activities involve multi‑state practice. Wound Care: Completion of an accredited WOC Nursing Education program and certification within 12 months if hired into Wound Care Dept. Benefits Comprehensive health benefits starting day 1. Physical Requirements (Medium‑Heavy) 36‑75 lbs, 0‑33% of the work day; 20‑35 lbs, 34‑66%; 10‑20 lbs, 67‑100%. Lifting up to 75 lbs. Carrying objects up to 35 lbs. Occasional to frequent standing & walking, occasional sitting. Close eye work with computers. Physical demands may vary. Environmental Factors Blood‑borne pathogen exposure, bio‑hazardous waste, chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, communicable diseases, electrical shock, floor surfaces, hot/cold temperatures, indoor/outdoor conditions, latex, lighting, patient care injuries, radiation, shift work, travel may be required; use of PPE including respirators.
