About the Role Our client, a flourishing commercial entity situated in Welkom, Free State , is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Commercial Legal Specialist . This role is central to supporting the company's extensive commercial operations by providing robust legal advice and contract management. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in commercial law and a keen eye for detail, ensuring all agreements and legal documentation are sound. This position involves close collaboration with various business units to mitigate risks and facilitate seamless commercial transactions. The role is designed to offer a flexible hybrid work model, allowing for a balance between office-based collaboration in Welkom, Free State , and remote work, promoting efficiency and employee well-being. Key Responsibilities Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including sales agreements, partnership agreements, and supplier contracts. Provide expert legal guidance on commercial law matters, ensuring compliance with South African legislation. Conduct legal risk assessments for new business ventures and existing commercial relationships. Assist in the resolution of commercial disputes and claims. Manage and maintain accurate contract records and documentation. Liaise with external counsel on specialized legal issues or litigation support. Support the sales and procurement teams with legal advice on their respective agreements. Stay informed about changes in commercial law and their impact on the business. Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures in all commercial dealings. Requirements Qualified legal professional (Attorney or Advocate) with a minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial law. Proven track record in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements. Thorough understanding of South African contract law, consumer protection law, and general commercial principles. Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Proficiency in legal research and standard office software. Experience working in a commercial environment is advantageous. Must be comfortable working in a hybrid capacity, with regular attendance at our Welkom, Free State office.
