Job Title: Staff Engineer Planning and Development Department

Starting Annual Salary: $105,000.00 -  135,066.00  (Commensurate with Education and Experience)

Education, Experience and Skill Requirements

•          Bachelor’s degree in engineering. 

•          Minimum of 6 years of experience in civil engineering, municipal engineering, or a related

engineering field.

•          Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas.

•          Demonstrates strong analytical skills with the ability to define problems, evaluate data, and

draw evidence-based conclusions. 

•          Valid Driver’s License

Primary Job Duties

•          Conducts comprehensive reviews of plats, subdivision layouts, permitting reviews,

floodplain management applications,  and site development plans to ensure compliance

with applicable regulations and design standards. 

•          Field inspections and analysis of drainage, construction, and infrastructure.

•          Review of testing and engineering analysis

•          Assist with administration of engineering contracts

•          Provide broad knowledge of road construction, public infrastructure, hydrologic and

hydraulic engineering principles, practices, and methods, and their practical application 

•          Attend meetings on behalf of department and supervisors. 

•          Review hydrologic and hydraulic modeling submittals to support development plan

applications and ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations 

•          Review of on-site sewage facility plans (training available if needed in this area)

•          Perform hydraulic and hydrologic modeling using specialized engineering software 

•          Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. 

This position is required to perform a range of physical activities to ensure compliance with standards, requirements, and codes. The physical demands for these roles can include, but are not limited to: driving, standing, walking, lifting, bending, stooping, and other activities necessary to perform visual and audible reviews and inspections.
