Role Description The Tax Associate is a full-time, on-site role based in the Central New Jersey and Northern New Jersey Areas. This role is responsible for assisting clients with individual and small business tax preparation, ensuring accurate and compliant returns in accordance with current tax laws and regulations. Day-to-day responsibilities include interviewing clients to gather financial information, analyzing tax documents, identifying potential deductions and credits, and completing federal, state, and local tax returns. The Tax Associate will explain tax outcomes clearly, answer client questions, and provide guidance on future tax planning opportunities. The role also includes maintaining up-to-date knowledge of tax law changes, using tax preparation software, collaborating with team members, and supporting client service initiatives during peak tax season and throughout the year. Qualifications Income Tax Certification passing score of 85% or higher Strong tax preparation skills, including experience with individual and small business tax returns (Tax Preparation, Tax). Knowledge of tax compliance requirements and reporting standards, with the ability to ensure accurate and timely filings (Tax Compliance). Understanding of federal, state, and local tax law and the ability to apply relevant regulations to client situations (Tax Law). Basic to intermediate finance skills, including ability to interpret financial statements and related documentation (Finance). Relevant education such as coursework in accounting, finance, or taxation; professional certifications (e.g., Enrolled Agent) are a plus. Proficiency with tax preparation software and productivity tools, with strong attention to detail and analytical skills. Excellent client-facing communication skills, including the ability to explain complex tax concepts in clear, accessible language.
