Field Superintendent – Water/Wastewater & Heavy Civil Infrastructure Construction Location: Miami (South Florida) Company: Skyscraper Construction / Infrastructure Construction Position Type: Full-Time Experience Level: Senior-Level (10+ Years Preferred) Position Overview Skyscraper Construction is seeking an experienced Field Superintendent specializing in water, wastewater, underground utility, and heavy civil infrastructure construction. This role is responsible for overseeing all daily field operations on complex municipal infrastructure projects including wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, underground utility systems, roadway restoration, and large-diameter pipeline installations. The ideal candidate must possess extensive hands‑on experience managing civil construction crews, trenching operations, utility installations, bypass systems, excavation, site restoration, and heavy equipment operations in active municipal and operational environments. This position requires a superintendent who fully understands how underground utility systems and heavy civil infrastructure are safely constructed, sequenced, coordinated, tested, restored, and placed back into service while maintaining public safety and operational continuity. Required Experience Wastewater Treatment & Pump Station Construction Experience with: Wastewater treatment plants Pump stations and lift stations Influent structures and bar screen systems Emergency bypass systems Operational facility upgrades Rehabilitation of aging infrastructure Construction within active treatment plants Underground Utility & Civil Infrastructure Construction Extensive experience overseeing installation and restoration of: Gravity sewer systems Sanitary sewer mains Force mains Water mains Storm drainage systems Large‑diameter underground utilities Deep underground utility installations Utility relocations Yard piping systems Duct banks and conduit systems Manholes and utility structures Valve installations and vaults Tie‑ins and shutdowns Temporary bypass piping systems Roadway crossings and MOT operations Pipeline Installation Experience Experience managing installation of: 48‑inch to 72‑inch+ pipelines FRP/GRP piping systems PCCP pipelines Ductile iron pipe systems HDPE piping systems Steel casing installations Jack and bore operations Directional drilling preferred Heavy Civil & Trenching Operations Experience managing field operations involving: Deep excavation and trenching Trench safety and OSHA compliance Shoring systems and trench boxes Dewatering and groundwater management Excavation support systems Sheet piling and sheeting systems Soil stabilization Backfilling and compaction Asphalt restoration Concrete restoration Sidewalk and curb restoration Roadway reconstruction Site grading and restoration Erosion control and maintenance of traffic Key Responsibilities Supervise all daily construction activities in the field Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and field personnel Ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and according to plans and specifications Maintain project schedules and production goals Monitor manpower, equipment, and material usage Coordinate heavy equipment and utility crews Underground Utility & Civil Coordination Oversee trenching, utility installation, bedding, backfill, testing, and restoration operations Coordinate installation of gravity sewer, force mains, water mains, storm drainage, and underground structures Manage utility crossings, tie-ins, bypass systems, and shutdown activities Ensure proper utility elevations, slopes, alignments, and compaction requirements are maintained Coordinate roadway restoration and site reconstruction activities Construction Coordination Review drawings, specifications, and construction documents Coordinate sequencing of underground utilities, bypass systems, and shutdown activities Work closely with project managers, engineers, and municipal representatives Identify and resolve field conflicts and constructability issues Maintain plant operations and public safety during construction activities Safety Management Enforce OSHA standards and company safety policies Conduct daily safety meetings and site inspections Ensure compliance with excavation safety, trenching standards, confined space entry, and bypass operations Maintain safe work practices in operational treatment plant environments and public right‑of‑way work zones Quality Control Ensure work complies with project specifications and quality standards Coordinate inspections and testing activities Verify utility layout, elevations, slopes, and installation requirements Monitor compaction testing, pressure testing, and restoration requirements Ensure proper workmanship and project completion standards are maintained Scheduling & Reporting Assist with short‑term scheduling and look‑ahead planning Maintain daily reports and site documentation Track project progress and identify schedule impactsCoordinate material deliveries and equipment logistics Required Qualifications Minimum 10 years of heavy civil construction experience Minimum 5+ years as a Superintendent on municipal utility or wastewater projects Experience managing crews on projects valued at $5M–$50M+ Strong background in underground utilities, trenching, and civil infrastructure construction Technical Knowledge Gravity sewer installation
