As a Software Engineer 4 - Contingent, you will be part of the Development Department supporting innovative platform capabilities and technical initiatives. Job Title: Java Developer / Software Engineer Location: West Des Moines, IA What's the Job? Analyze requirements for developer enablement frameworks, tools, and platform capabilities to ensure optimal performance and scalability. Evaluate existing systems and constraints to recommend clear, actionable solutions that enhance platform efficiency. Contribute to the design and prototyping of platform features and reusable capabilities, building proof of concepts and assessing technical feasibility. Break down complex engineering work into manageable iterations that deliver measurable value and high-quality, production-ready code. Partner with product owners and stakeholders to refine scope, acceptance criteria, and ensure alignment with architectural standards. What's Needed? 5+ years of experience in modern engineering stacks such as Java, Spring Boot, React, Node.js, Microservices, Kafka, and MongoDB. Strong understanding of cloud native architectures and CI/CD best practices. Hands-on experience with automated testing, diagnostics, and performance tuning. Proficiency in applying Domain Driven Design (DDD) concepts and modern engineering patterns. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders.
