Operations & Management Consultant II (SES) The Florida Department of Education – Division of Early Learning – is recruiting a Communication Coordinator to support the Division’s public relations, media output, and strategic communications. The position reports to the Chancellor of Early Learning and is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the Division’s communication activities. Duties & Responsibilities Collaborate with the DOE communications office to develop and implement a public relations strategy promoting the Division’s priorities and initiatives. Enhance the agency’s online presence and brand visibility through approved postings. Coordinate the Division’s communication activities, including the development of press materials such as fact sheets, media advisories, talking points, and monthly newsletters. Manage and execute functions supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual publications and projects. Oversee the Division’s social media and other online communication platforms. Act as primary liaison for the Department of Education (DOE) regarding media inquiries and public records requests. Create materials supporting communication strategies, drafting reports and presentations for stakeholders. Ensure DEL documents are ADA compliant and manage the DEL document review process. Guide updates to the organization’s website. Coordinate state‑wide early learning meetings and work groups. Develop action plans and activities to promote organizational culture, including strategic planning. Plan and coordinate special events, conferences, and trainings across the state. Track legislative interests and early learning news. Establish and maintain relationships with coalition directors, childcare providers, state‑wide associations, and partners. Lead the development and improvement of employee publications and newsletters. Supervise quality and appropriateness of communications activities, both internal and external. Develop and supervise organizational research. Travel may be required. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications 4 years of professional experience in communications in a leadership role. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in communications or public relations AND 3 years of professional communications experience in a leadership role. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong project and process management skills. Deep knowledge of public relations, journalism, mass communications, news reporting, editing, advertising, and marketing principles. Skilled in AP style; adaptable to writing for multiple formats and audiences. Strong understanding of media production, dissemination techniques, and methods. Proficient with social media and online communication tools. Excellent research and analytical skills. Strong organizational skills; attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Problem-identification and process-improvement skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud Suite. Positive, professional attitude and collaboration skills. No tolerance for negative impact on team morale. Capability to work independently with limited guidance.
