Microbiologist

We are seeking a Microbiologist responsible for coordinating and performing testing for SARS-CoV-2 and other public health targets in wastewater and water samples. The role involves sample examination, analysis, result interpretation, reporting, quality control, compliance, and laboratory safety. Responsibilities Conduct wastewater sample concentration, RNA extraction, and PCR molecular testing. Maintain laboratory records of submitted samples. Evaluate, interpret, and validate laboratory results. Perform quality control checks on laboratory methods, materials, and equipment. Assist with preparing reports from compiled laboratory data. Participate in evaluating new products used in environmental laboratory work. Maintain compliance with laboratory certification requirements. Follow laboratory safety practices and procedures. Participate in proficiency testing programs. Communicate technical information effectively, both verbally and in writing. Maintain productive working relationships with laboratory staff and stakeholders. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) in Biological Science. Experience performing RNA extraction and qPCR testing is required. Strong knowledge of molecular testing principles, theories, and practices. Knowledge of current molecular scientific methods and testing procedures. Ability to use molecular and standard laboratory equipment. Ability to compile, analyze, evaluate, and prepare laboratory reports. Strong knowledge of laboratory safety practices and principles. Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, and policies related to laboratory operations. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
