Oncology Nurse Practitioner

The Oncology Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides comprehensive healthcare services to oncology patients, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care. Working collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare providers, the NP plays a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care across the continuum of cancer treatment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough physical assessments and health histories of oncology patients.
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions related to oncology.
• Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with the oncology team.
• Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests including blood work, imaging, and biopsies.
• Prescribe medications, including chemotherapy and supportive care treatments, within the scope of practice.
• Provide symptom management and supportive care, including pain, nausea, fatigue, and emotional distress.
• Educate patients and families on disease processes, treatment plans, side effects, and preventive measures.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case discussions.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatments as needed.
• Document all patient interactions accurately and in a timely manner in the EMR.
• Assist in clinical trials and research activities as applicable.
• Serve as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care.

Salary: $135,000-$150,000

Salary may reflect bonuses and incentives

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in a Nurse Practitioner Program: Family or Adult Geriatrics
• Current New York State License as a Nurse Practitioner.
• National Board Certification required
• American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)
• American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
• Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC)
• Bilingual (Spanish Speaking) is a plus
• EMR/EHR experience a plus
