Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift

Maintenance TechnicianPOSITION PURPOSE The Maintenance Technician is a member of the Maintenance and Reliability team and typically working under the direction of a senior technician is responsible for performing PM's, facility work orders, and equipment repairs in a safe manner, ensuring correct processes and procedures are followed, and documentation is made. The Maintenance Technician works as member of the larger plant maintenance team and may be assigned to any open ticked or project as volume dictates. Observes all safety rules and always uses the proper safety equipment.Complete PM's, work orders, and repairs for facility and equipment in a safe and quality conscious manner eliminating risk of damage or down timeMeet daily work order production or project milestones as assignedReplenish supplies including parts, tools, or any other consumablesBuild / fabricate jigs, assists, and templates per designBuild units and parts assembles according to blueprints and shop drawingsFocus on learning principles of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, and power transmission componentsPerform all safety requirements regarding tools and PPEPerform daily activities (machine walk-thrus, review previous discrepancies, communicate machine issues/status)Perform Bench-work activities (rebuilds, parts cleaning, operational checks, upgrades)Perform basic maintenance on pumps, compressors, piping systems, etc.Work from technical manuals, specifications, shop drawings, and schematicsInterface effectively with production and maintenance personnel. Confer with Shift Manager on dutyMonitor and perform seasonal maintenance activities and facility equipment during non-standard work hoursActively acquire skills and ability to support the highest quality standards; may train others on basic skills. Flex to other areas as needed demonstrating teamwork and a commitment to team successPerform all other tasks as directed by the supervisorNATURE & SCOPE Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance Supervisor, or a more senior Technician as assigned by the Supervisor.KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS1-2 years of experience in industrial equipment maintenance.Demonstrated competent writing skills including the ability to document a process in a logical and coherent manner.Ability to communicate to supervisors and co-workers with written memos or email that are professional, concise, and clearly understood.Demonstrated oral communication skills including the ability to communicate professionally with BAC customer and co-workers.The ability to share information verbally that is clearly understood and technically accurate.Competent in math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractional computations, and fraction to decimal conversions.Skills related to facility repair including painting, drywall, and plumbing.How to troubleshoot basic electrical issues including following schematics/wiring diagrams and use digital multi-meter (DMM).Principles of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, and power transmission components.Competent in reading blueprints and reference drawings.Must be flexible and able to adapt quickly to change.Understanding of elementary and intermediate LEAN principles including 5S, Kanban, one piece flow, and basic continuous improvement techniques.Ability to read OEM manual and follow detailed diagnostic and repair procedures.Competence in welding, milling and lathe techniques.Safely use nail guns, panel saw, miter saw, and other small power tools as required.Able to read a tape measure and perform basic fractional calculations.Know how to correctly fill out In Process Inspections and any other paperwork as required.Ability to safely operate material handling equipment including pallet jacks, lift trucks, jib cranes, and gantry crane.Ability to safely operate a man lift.Knowledge of all safety requirements associated with tasks.Computer skills include competence in locating relevant instructions and forms on the LAN or other databases.WORKING CONDITIONS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Employee will also be required to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, sit and reach on a regular basis during a normal working shift. This position requires frequent lifting up to 50 pounds. Work can be done at ground level, in confined space, or at elevations. Exposures include elevated noise levels associated with a manufacturing environment, fluctuations in temperature ambient conditions as well as intermittent exposure to the weather in and about the yard and dock areas. Working hours can include any of three shifts and generally are scheduled for forty hours a week. Some weekend overtime is to be expected.
