To scale our current impact, ASU Prep is advancing a major expansion program taking fundamental responsibility for the communities we serve.The Reading Interventionist is responsible for providing individualized interventions to students and instructional strategies to teachers specific to grades K-12. They would meet with students and monitor their work on various platforms during learning labs and design specialized tutorials. The Reading Interventionist is responsible for providing regularly feedback to students, families and teachers in support of class instruction and extracurricular tutoring support, providing acceleration opportunities for students who are in need of such support. The Reading Interventionist may also participate in the development of subject/grade level-related professional development to be shared across network. This position requires residence in the greater Phoenix, AZ area to be able to travel to meet students and staff for in person professional development.GRANT FUNDED POSITIONThis is a grant funded position. Continuation is contingent on future grant funding.QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Post Bachelors in Education from an accredited college or universityPost-graduate certificate or Master’s degree in Literacy, preferredTeaching Certificate in Elementary Education OR Teaching Certification in ELA 6-12Minimum three (3) years teaching experience in English/Language Arts or ReadingCertification or extensive training and experience supporting students with DyslexiaActive AZ Department of Public Safety (DPS) IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide feedback to teachers on a regular basis to improve instruction and differentiation and develop targeted interventions and opportunities to extend learning.Utilize Exact Path to assess proficiency and understanding to track student growth and support teachers to make data informed decisions in their classrooms.Make recommendations for teachers and leaders for software applications to support all students’ subject-specific proficiencies.Assist in the teacher professional development of strategies to help all learners, including students with dyslexia, develop confidence and understanding in specified subject areas.Provide ongoing curriculum guidance and support to teachers, instructional coaches, and support staffAnalyze assessment data to support and guide instruction.Stay current on best practices by conducting research, collaborating with other professionals in the field, and attending workshops and trainings.Guide teachers on various instructional and interventional strategies that drives performance and student achievement.Collaborate with, and contribute ideas to, the Academic leadership team on professional development topics related to reading to be shared network-wide.Deliver interventional support to students in specified content area.Determine instruction techniques, strategies, methods and adapts curriculum and learning styles to meet and assess student’s needs.Participate with teachers, parent(s), campus administrators and district coordinator in determining qualification for 504 dyslexia services.Develop activities and resources, strategies and methods for a variety of teaching, and creating lesson plans that are aligned interventional learning objectives with the school guides.Understand and able to explain Section 504 law/procedures, test results and information to parents and teachersMaintain open lines of communication with parents/guardians about academic and discipline issues through various mediums including phone calls, notes, progress reports, etc.Develop, analyze, adjust, and implement individualized lesson plans for students to accommodate interventional needs.Assess and evaluates performance and progress of students in content area and assessing comprehension of learning objectives.Maintain confidentiality of protected student and staff member information even after no longer employed or enrolled.Assist in the well-being of students the fundamental value in all decision making.Contribute to professional growth of self and colleagues including sharing and planning curriculum, staying current with educational trends, and continuing professional growth to meet the state and school requirements including current teaching certificates.Work collaboratively to achieve the overall purposes of the school program.Maintain a classroom atmosphere conducive of learning.Develop and create classroom displays, storing materials, cleaning and organizing of tables and shelves, disassembling of classroom at the end of the school year.Perform clerical duties including attendance record keeping, copying, cutting, filing, ordering of supplies, and the like as well as computer software skills.Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy.Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESStrong written and spoken communication skills.Demonstrated skill in working in a classroom setting.Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with a wide-range of people including teachers, support staff, and students.Proficiency with technology, computers and Microsoft Office Suite.Ability and skill in collaborating with teachers, staff, students and parents.Ability to articulate, represent professional demeanor and ability to take initiative.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
