Staff Analyst, Level I

The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The Payroll Section is responsible for processing payroll for all civilian and uniformed members of service for the NYPD. The Payroll Section is seeking a Staff Analyst, I to perform professional accounting work, and who will be responsible for the following:

• Analyze and audit the pending pay details report (160/161 report)
• Process special projects on a case by case basis
• Oversee the collection and recovery process for both separated civilian and uniformed members of the service
• Issue formal notification letters to former employees detailing overpayment amounts and repayment options
• Manage the intake of repayments and ensure all funds are accurately processed and forwarded to the Office of Payroll Administration (OPA)
• Act as the primary point of contact for OPA and the Law Department to coordinate legal recovery efforts and reconcile payroll records
