With a unique blend of cultural insight and professional expertise, we pride ourselves on creating an environment that fosters success for both employers and candidates.Location: Newark, NJ | Hybrid Compensation: $280,000–$310,000, commensurate with experienceA sophisticated law firm is seeking an experienced Of Counsel to join its nationally recognized Bankruptcy, Financial Reorganization & Creditors' Rights practice in Newark.The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10+ years of significant law firm experience handling complex bankruptcy, restructuring, insolvency, and creditors' rights matters. Deep, hands-on Chapter 11 experience is a key requirement, including experience navigating sophisticated proceedings, developing restructuring strategies, handling contested matters, and managing related litigation.A portable book of business is not required. An existing client base, portable matters, or established client relationships would be considered a plus.ResponsibilitiesRepresent debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, creditors' committees, trustees, lenders, equity holders, and purchasers of distressed assets in Chapter 11 proceedings, restructurings, and related litigation.Advise clients on loan workouts, out-of-court restructurings, distressed transactions, UCC enforcement, creditor remedies, and bankruptcy litigation.Handle matters involving preference and fraudulent transfer actions, DIP financing, cash collateral, and other contested bankruptcy matters.Counsel public and private companies, financial institutions, boards, and fiduciaries on restructuring strategies and distressed situations.Collaborate across corporate, banking, litigation, real estate, and tax practices to provide comprehensive client solutions.QualificationsJ.D. from an accredited law school.New Jersey Bar admission required.New York Bar admission required; candidates not currently admitted in New York must be eligible and willing to obtain admission within one year of joining.Minimum of 10+ years of sophisticated bankruptcy, restructuring, and creditors' rights experience.Substantial Chapter 11 experience required, including managing and/or advising clients in complex proceedings, restructurings, contested matters, and related litigation.Experience representing a range of stakeholders in Chapter 11 proceedings, workouts, insolvency matters, and related disputes.Strong legal, client relationship, and business development skills.The OpportunityThis is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded and collaborative practice handling sophisticated restructuring and insolvency matters nationwide.
