Parts Manager (Ag and Turf) Atlantic Tractor – John Deere Dealership Location: Westminster, Maryland Reports To: Director of Parts Position Summary The Parts Manager is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the parts department while serving as the on‑site leader for the dealership location, working closely with the Service Manager. This role ensures strong customer service, accurate inventory control, and alignment with company goals. It also supports cross‑departmental collaboration and fosters a positive workplace culture. Key Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and manage all parts department staff. Ensure accurate binning, receiving, and cycle counts. Drive parts sales by delivering exceptional service to walk‑in, phone, online and internal customers. Proactively seek out new customers and business opportunities through route calls and outside sales efforts. Monitor and manage department KPIs such as margin, fill rate, return recovery, aged POs, and inventory adjustments. Oversee warranty, core returns, freight recovery, and special‑order parts processes. Support seasonal promotions aligned with manufacturer programs. Utilize dealership systems (e.g., IntelliDealer, DealerPath) to manage daily operations. Serve as the primary point of leadership and accountability for the dealership location. Foster a collaborative, team‑first environment across all departments. Act as a liaison between store staff and upper management. Partner with HR and department heads in hiring, onboarding, and performance management. Maintain a clean, safe, and professional environment for customers and employees. Support execution of company initiatives and operational improvements. Participate in monthly after hours on call for the store and company as scheduled. Additional responsibilities as assigned by management. Physical Requirements Ability to work in a combination of office, parts counter, warehouse, and shop environments with frequent movement between areas. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods on concrete floors while assisting customers, supervising staff, and managing inventory. Ability to frequently use hands for keyboarding, handling small parts, operating parts lookup systems (e.g., John Deere electronic parts catalog), and completing administrative tasks. Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull parts and materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Heavier items may require team lifting or mechanical assistance. Capability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach above shoulder height to access parts stored on shelving or in bins. Ability to safely operate or oversee the operation of material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and order pickers; must be able to obtain and maintain certification if required. Ability to climb ladders or stairs to access mezzanine or elevated storage areas. Visual acuity sufficient to read small print, part numbers, digital screens, and interpret technical diagrams and schematics accurately. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, technicians, vendors, and team members in a fast‑paced dealership environment, both in person and via phone or computer systems. Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to noise, dust, grease, temperature fluctuations and moving mechanical equipment in shop and warehouse areas. Must be able to safely navigate high‑traffic areas with equipment movement, including tractors, mowers, and other agricultural machinery. Qualifications 3–5 years of experience in a parts management or dealership operations role. Proven leadership and team development skills. Strong understanding of inventory control and parts flow. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Proficient in dealership software systems (IntelliDealer experience preferred). Familiarity with agricultural or turf equipment and parts is a plus. Valid driver’s license. Current DOT medical certificate or ability to obtain and maintain certification.
