Professional Engineer

Due to recent promotions, the City of Springfield's Department of Public Works is seeking qualified applicants for a Professional Engineer (with option to underfill as Engineer III, Engineer II, and Engineer I) in the Transportation Engineering Division. The Transportation Engineering Division of Public Works manages the design and construction of public improvements in the City of Springfield including streets, intersections, streetscapes, and bridges. The division is also responsible for right-of-way acquisitions for public uses and surveying public property.

Notice of exam: The eligible list established as a result of this posting will be used for this job classification for a minimum of six months or until the list is exhausted. The list will be used to fill multiple vacancies, across various City departments. Individuals must apply now in order to be considered for future openings in this job classification. Persons interested in future opportunities must test now and if eligible may have their name withheld from certification until such time as they are interested.

Qualifications and Requirements

Experience, Education, and Training Professional Engineer

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering discipline;
• Four years of experience in engineering work.
• Engineering experience must be commensurate with assigned specialty area required for current vacancy.

Engineer III (Underfill option):

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering discipline;
• Three years progressively responsible engineering experience;
• Must possess an Engineering Intern (EI) certificate from a State Board of registration for Professional Engineers within probationary period;
• Master's Degree in Engineering may be substituted for the EI certification.

Engineer II (Underfill Option):

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering discipline;
• Two years progressively responsible engineering experience;
• Master's Degree in Engineering may be substituted for one year of the required work experience.

Engineer I (Underfill Option):

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering discipline;
• Licensing/Certification: Must possess a Professional Engineer's license for Professional Engineer; Must possess MO license as issued by the Missouri State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers within six months of employment.

• Salary range for Professional Engineer: $68,203.20 - $117,083.20/annually
• Salary range for Engineer III: $63,523.20 - $109,012.80/annually
• Salary range for Engineer II: $56,742.40 - $97,427.20/annually
• Salary range for Engineer I: $52,208.00 - $89,648.00/annually
