Summary

The Equipment Operator is responsible for supporting and independently performing label manufacturing operations using automated and non-automated equipment, including Onsert booklet equipment, integrated vision inspection systems, and steel-rule die-cutting equipment. The role ensures products are manufactured according to client specifications, SOPs, Work Instructions, cGMP requirements, quality standards, and production schedules. The position requires strong technical, troubleshooting, quality, and equipment operation skills while maintaining safety, productivity, and minimal waste. The operator also supports equipment maintenance, process improvement, cross-training, and team development.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the setup and operation of Onsert booklet equipment, including automated computer-controlled vision inspection systems.
• Operate automated and non-automated equipment used in label manufacturing.
• Die-cut narrow-web pressure-sensitive materials using steel-rule die tooling.
• Perform pre- and post-printing processes associated with production jobs.
• Review client-approved proofs and supporting documentation to manufacture labels according to specifications.
• Set up computerized production runs and Bulk Transfer Labels using CLPS proprietary software.
• Follow department SOPs, Work Instructions (WIs), company policies, and cGMP requirements.
• Monitor production processes for accuracy, completeness, quality, and compliance.
• Meet daily and monthly production goals and schedules.
• Communicate production obstacles and job-related issues to the Team Leader, Sr. Operator, or Manager.
• Troubleshoot equipment and production problems and identify effective solutions.
• Inspect materials during production and perform manual adjustments to correct printing, orientation, and other inconsistencies.
• Operate equipment in a controlled manner to minimize waste and defects.
• Maintain equipment according to standard procedures, safety requirements, cleaning schedules, and preventative maintenance practices.
• Process returns of unused base stock after computerization has been completed and shipped.
• Monitor consumable supplies and equipment parts and alert management when replenishment is required.
• Identify and recommend improvements to products, processes, efficiency, productivity, and the work environment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area.
• Work independently when planning, setting up, and manufacturing various label constructions.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with team members to meet production timelines.
• Cross-train and become proficient in operating three or more pieces of equipment within the department.
• Support the Team Leader and Manager in training and mentoring team members.
• Promote best practices to ensure jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and to required quality standards.
• Apply current cGMP practices to all assigned activities.
• Conduct all activities safely and efficiently while supporting Client's values of Integrity, Intensity, Involvement, and Innovation.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of label manufacturing processes and various label constructions.
• Experience or technical ability to operate automated and non-automated manufacturing equipment.
• Knowledge of Onsert booklet equipment and automated vision inspection systems.
• Understanding of steel-rule die cutting and narrow-web pressure-sensitive materials.
• Ability to interpret client-approved proofs, specifications, SOPs, and Work Instructions.
• Knowledge of computerized production systems and ability to learn/use CLPS proprietary software.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify printing, orientation, and material defects.
• Ability to make manual equipment adjustments to maintain product quality.
• Strong understanding of quality control, defect prevention, and production standards.
• Knowledge of cGMP, SOPs, WIs, safety procedures, and preventative maintenance.
• Ability to perform routine equipment cleaning and maintenance.
• Ability to work independently while effectively contributing to a team.
• Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills.
