Offer product samples to help customers discover new items. Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials. Provide customers with fresh products ordered in the correct portion size. Recommend deli or bakery items to ensure customers receive what they want and need. Use all bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines. Prepare foods according to temperature logs and follow cooking instructions. Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipe using a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment. Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients in merchandise. Check product quality to ensure freshness, review “sell by” dates and take appropriate action. Properly use kitchen equipment such as stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe, etc. Label, stock and inventory department merchandise. Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager. Understand the store layout and locate products when requested by customer. Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads. Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions with suggestions. Maintain awareness of inventory and stocking conditions, note any discrepancies. Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs kept. Promote trust and respect among associates. Create an environment where customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines. Reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures and identifying unsafe conditions, notifying store management. Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and informing the appropriate department or store manager of items needing repair. Notify management of customer or employee accidents. Work cooperatively in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment. Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information. Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues. Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
