Rehabilitation Aide

The Rehabilitation Aide will transfer and transport patients and provide patient care under direct supervision of a clinician in accordance with Kennedy Krieger Institute policies and procedures, the departmental program, and the State of Maryland's Laws and Regulations. The incumbent will assist clinical staff in the provision of patient care programs and perform supportive tasks, including those serving the administrative, maintenance, and operational needs of the program.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, maintain, and clean patient treatment areas before and after treatment sessions. Adhere to Kennedy Krieger Institute policies regarding patient and staff safety, hygiene, patient privacy, and both patient-specific and standard precautions.
• Assist clinicians in group therapy sessions by helping with set-up and clean-up, transitions between activities, assisting the patients as directed by the clinician and under their direct supervision, and interacting and playing with the patient's siblings as needed.
• Copy articles and organize paperwork and training materials for families.
• Maintain departmental supplies needed for the program, to include ordering supplies, inventory control, labeling, and supply storage.
• Maintain office equipment by arranging maintenance service, performing basic cleaning and upkeep, overseeing transport and tracking, scheduling, and safe storage. Identify and correct/report quality control problems and coordinate disposal/removal of broken equipment as needed.
• Greet, transport, and assist patients as they arrive for therapy sessions.
• Demonstrate technical proficiency of adaptive equipment and rehabilitation modalities. Inform clinicians of any adverse effects.
• Actively participate in meetings and committees, including execution of tasks related to preparing for regulatory review and performance improvement projects.
• Attend staff and supervisory meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications

Must possess and maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

EDUCATION:

• High School Graduate, GED, or equivalent required.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• Enrollment in health occupation curriculum, certification, or academic program is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

• Previous experience working or volunteering in a hospital or clinical setting preferred.
• Experience working with or treating children or adults with developmental or acquired disabilities is preferred.

Minimum Pay Range

USD $15.00/Hr.

Maximum Pay Range

USD $23.00/Hr.
