Gopher Tortoise Survey - Seasonal Technician

Position Details Department: PSO‑Marine Extension Service. Employment Type: Employee. Duration: 8‑9 months (August2026– April2027). Salary: $16–$20 per hour. Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, with occasional weekend or 10‑hour shifts. Start date: no later than September1,2026. No health or retirement benefits; lodging and per diem for overnight deployments; no housing allowance. Responsibilities Conduct industry site surveys for gopher tortoises and other priority species, including line transects to document burrow location and activity status. Camera‑scope burrows and suitable underground refugia for small vertebrate species, focusing on state and federal priority species. Perform visual encounter surveys for priority plant and wildlife species. Manage and process data in Excel, Terraflex (Trimble GPS units), and ArcGISPro. Desk work: data entry, map creation, photo processing, and literature research for scientific and non‑scientific purposes.
