Medical Assistant Certified - OBGYN

Summary A Medical Assistant (MA) under direct supervision of a physician or Advanced Care Practitioner. Decisions are limited to defined parameters around work expectations, quality standards, priorities, policies, and procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for rooming patients and preparing them for examination Takes patients vital signs, including blood pressure, height, weight, and documents them in EMR Updates patient medical records, including medications, allergies, and past medical and surgical history Preps procedure room for minor procedures and assists with those procedures as needed Prepares exam rooms for providers depending on appointment type Cleans exam room and beds after each appointment and restocks medical supplies daily Assists physician and acute care providers with patient examinations Draws blood, performs EKG, swab test, and any additional clinical tests within the clinic Manages physician orders by submitting them to appropriate departments such as imaging, labs, scheduling surgeries, or referral to specialists. Confirms all orders are completed and results returned Obtains prior authorizations as needed Checks in patients, registers patients, verifies insurance, scans documents into patient charts, answers phones, returns phone calls, and schedules appointments Displays strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
