R&D Intern

Mativ is a global leader in specialty materials headquartered in Alpharetta, Georgia. The Company offers a wide range of critical components and engineered solutions that connect, protect, and purify our world. Our R&D Laboratory Co-Op supports Mativ's Sustainability & Adhesives Solutions Function. This individual will work closely with our research and development team and the applications chemist. Ideal candidates have the attitude, initiative, and excellent interpersonal skills to support Mativ's collaborative, high-achievement culture. This position is a 40-hour typical work week. This internship will be for a total duration of 6 months, from June 1, 2026-December 23, 2026. The work schedule will be Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and test custom designed samples and developmental products in accordance with MOC innovation, customer and/or market requirements
• Provide support to key R&D and site project support
• Complete adhesive coating tasks including sample preparation and testing
• Perform Coating raw material screening and analysis
• Assist team with Process Optimization/Continuous Improvement Projects
• Assist R&D supervisor with product development trial coverage/evaluation
• Perform product cost modeling/analysis
• Prepare and present completed work
• Maintaining, organizing and cleaning workspace
• Coordinate with other departments as necessary (operations, quality assurance, purchasing, warehouse, etc)

Qualifications:

Required:

• High school diploma
• Actively pursuing an Associates Degree, Bachelors Degree or Masters Degree in Chemistry, Paper Science, Poly Science or Chemical Engineering
• Proficient using MS Office
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Preferred:

• Methodical, rigorous, persistent
• Literate, numerate
• Highly organized, diligent, structured

• The ability to work with minimal supervision
