Role Description The Senior Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in New York, NY. This position is responsible for preparing detailed estimates and cost proposals for complex construction projects, including quantity takeoffs, pricing, and analysis of drawings and specifications. The Senior Estimator collaborates with project managers, preconstruction teams, and trade partners to develop accurate budgets, value engineering options, and bid strategies. Day-to-day activities include reviewing design documents, identifying cost risks and opportunities, updating estimate databases, and participating in bid reviews and presentations. The role also involves mentoring junior estimators, supporting continuous improvement of estimating processes, and ensuring alignment with company standards and client expectations. Qualifications Strong skills in construction estimating, quantity takeoffs, and cost analysis for commercial and institutional projects. Proficiency with estimating software, takeoff tools, and standard office applications (e.g., Excel, Word, project management platforms). Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, building systems, and current market pricing. Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and contracts with attention to detail. Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with internal teams, clients, and trade partners. Proven experience in preconstruction, budgeting, and value engineering for large or complex projects. Demonstrated capability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered. Several years of estimating experience in the construction industry, preferably with a focus on large-scale or specialty projects.
