Paid time off is earned according to the local policy and increases with the length of employment. Responsibilities Maintain lawn and/or grass using mowers, edgers, and trimmers. Rake and maintain leaves, plants, flowers, trees, or shrubs. Clean up trash in parking lots/garages and exterior grounds. Empty and clean trash containers. Assist in snow removal and cleanup. Assist in overall maintenance of grounds using equipment such as power washers, sweeper truck, lawn mowers, weed eaters, trimmers, edgers, etc. Fasten attachments such as grader, harrows, floats, and rollers to tractors with hitch pins. Release brakes, shift gears, and depress accelerator or move throttle to control forward and backward movement of tractor. Steer tractor by turning steering wheel and depressing brake pedals. Assist in maintaining the integrity of the racing surface. Deliver sand and clay to racetrack and barn areas. Clean all equipment used. Report problems with machinery or attachments to Motor Pool. Assist all areas of the department when needed. Assist with transportation of disabled horses. Rake material around the racing surface. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age. Must possess a valid driver’s license subject to annual DMV background checks. Must have 1-year maintenance experience. Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals, and to write routine reports and correspondence. Employee must be able to qualify for a West Virginia State Racing Commission License and possess a valid driver’s license for the state in which you reside. In addition to a pre‑employment background check, this position will be subject to periodic checks of your driving record. Must have OSHA certification on machinery used by Track Maintenance. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear; frequently required to stand, walk, and sit; must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, and peripheral vision. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, occasionally exposed to high or precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electric shock; and vibration; noise level is usually moderate to very loud.
