Your role is central to the safety and environmental programs at Huhtamaki. You will plan and implement safety policies, conduct inspections, and lead training and investigations while ensuring compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, and corporate policies. Key Responsibilities Plan and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal OSHA rules and regulations. Prepare the annual OSHA 300 log. Implement the Huhtamaki Safety Plan. Lead the Safety Pillar and serve as an active member of the Corporate Safety Leader Team. Develop interactive, documented, and effective training plans for supervisor’s employee safety meetings. Engage employees in a safety‑positive environment, encouraging reporting of safety observations and empowering them to take charge of their own safety. Analyze safety data, prepare reports and insights, and use the data to prevent future injuries through proactive programs. Facilitate the annual safety audit and serve as a member of the corporate safety audit team conducting internal audits of other facilities. Lead facility inspections to identify potential health and safety hazards, determine corrective actions, and ensure implementation with department management. Assist manufacturing departments with the development of Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), training material, and related documentation. Audit engineering solutions to complex issues or problems that may impact the overall safety program or the safety of employees. Lead the investigation of incidents and injuries. Ensure corrective actions are implemented for continuous improvement and reduction of hazards, injuries, and costs related to unsafe conditions within the plant. Assist in preparing material and evidence for company use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations. Manage the worker compensation program to minimize impact, ensure validity of claims, control costs, facilitate return‑to‑work activity, and monitor premium activity. Update and maintain the facilities database for Material Safety Data Sheets, ensuring all employees and external agencies can access the documents when needed. Ensure the building, environment inside the plant, and grounds are well maintained. Oversee the Facilities Huhtamaki Environmental Care Program. Ensure compliance with, audit, and work closely with consulting agencies on all local, state, and federal required programs and permits. Maintain compliance with environmental standards and permits for the facility, resolving issues timely and documenting communications with reporting agencies and consultants. Maintain all appropriate records. Ensure timely and accurate reporting of corporate mandated SOFI recording for Safety, Environmental, and Sustainability reporting. Ensure proper air, sound level, and industrial hygiene testing is maintained and accurate. Promote employee health, healthy choices, and conditions within the facility.
