ROLE OVERVIEW Manufactures a wide range of new parts and components in a job shop environment using common manual and CNC machine shop equipment. Also provides part repair or replacement services as needed to support a wide variety of manufacturing plant equipment. Level I: This is the first of two levels of Machinists. The scope of responsibility and degree of difficulty for the level I is incrementally less than that of the level II. SCHEDULE Second Shift: Monday – Thursday (2:45 p – 12:45 a) OR First Shift: Monday – Friday (7 a – 3 p) COMPENSATION Competitive pay All benefits begin on day one! 401(k) match up to 8% WHAT YOU GET TO DO Safety is the top priority. Is responsible for the safety of self and all others, maintains a clean and organized environment, and is actively involved on the plant Emergency Response Team. Responsible for the safe use and care of shop tools and equipment including manual and CNC lathes, mills, boring bars, surface grinders, and roll manufacturing related equipment. Operations of cutting equipment such as band saws, table saws, and radial arm saws. Performs set‑ups for all types of jobs and designs/manufactures jigs or fixtures when required. Performs basic machining operations using grinders, drill presses, broaching, etc. Reads and interprets blueprints and uses basic shop inspection tools to ensure parts meet defined tolerance and quality expectations. Performs routine basic maintenance on shop equipment as required. Ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory agency standards, as well as safety policies established for Amcor and RE&D. Operates forklifts, basic rigging and overhead crane equipment and other typical shop material handling equipment. WHAT WE VALUE Ability to safely operate a forklift. Basic safe rigging techniques using straps, slings, and other related hardware. Basic computer skills. Good mechanical aptitude and basic blueprint reading. Familiarity with typical machine‑shop equipment, tooling, and techniques. Excellent oral and written communication skills. High degree of initiative and self‑direction. Ability to work effectively both independently and with others in team situations. WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU Two‑year technical degree, Journeyman Machinist, or equivalent experience. Ability to program and operate CNC equipment. Good working knowledge of machine‑shop methods and procedures. Basic knowledge of personal computers. Must possess basic hand tools and measuring equipment as per company listing. Ability to lift up to 50 lb., sit or stand for 8‑10 hrs at a time, and use stairs and ladders when necessary.
