Project SurveyorIMEG is hiring a Project Surveyor in Rock Island, IL, to support production surveying by applying diversified knowledge of land surveying principles and practices. You'll work under the leadership and review of a Senior Survey Coordinator or Senior Land Surveyor while exercising surveying judgment and completing project calculations and deliverables.Principal ResponsibilitiesPerform complex survey duties associated with construction stakeout and boundary, topographic, and as built surveysResearch historic maps, land records, previous surveys, and land title reportsComplete boundary reductions and mapping/topographic field reductions in CAD/survey softwareDownload, maintain, and verify accuracy of project survey data and manage survey databaseReview survey production and final products, processed data collection, and field notes for quality controlPrepare survey computations, staking/control exhibits, and survey crew instructions for construction staking and field survey projectsOperate and assist with operation of GPS equipment, total stations, levels, data collectors and other survey equipmentLead CAD Techs in preparing plans and plats describing in detail the surveys performedMaintain professional and productive working relationships with all clients and coworkersMentor and assist in training junior staff membersOperate a company vehicle and observe safety and security proceduresRequired Qualifications and SkillsBachelor of Science (BS) or Associates Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required6 years of experience minimum required in the Surveying and Construction IndustryLand Surveyor (LS) License requiredAdvanced knowledge of land surveying operations, computations, principles and practicesProficiency in reading and interpreting engineering plans and construction documentsKnowledge and ability to deal with public and governmental agencies, manage field crews, and schedule equipment and suppliesProficient in on-site office operation, office workflow processes and problem-solving techniquesAdvanced understanding of survey operations and identification of potential problemsProficient with AutoCAD C3D, survey, GPS, MS Office softwarePossesses oral and written communication skillsAbility to effectively communicate with clients, officials, contractors, coworkers and professionally represent IMEGValid driver's license with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier; must consent to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checkProficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and OutlookAbility to travel with occasional overnight staysThis position is not eligible for sponsorship.IMEG puts people first—with a strong focus on career growth, work-life balance, and meaningful impact. Experience spans topographic surveys, subsurface utility surveys, geodetic and boundary surveys, right-of-way mapping, and land acquisition services. The team supports both private and public clients—from municipalities and DOTs to federal agencies. Advanced tools and technology include 3D scanners, laser scanners, and drones. Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) teams use state-of-the-art geophysical equipment to locate and map existing buried utilities.Locations available: Rock Island, ILState of Illinois Salary Range: $77,000 - $98,000. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
